A bicyclist died after he apparently veered into the path of an oncoming car in Rancho San Diego Saturday, police said.
Shortly after 8 a.m., a Spring Valley woman was driving her 2001 Toyota Camry southbound in the right lane of Avocado Boulevard just before Nabal Drive when an unidentified man on a Masi Gran Corsa road bike suddenly turned left out of the bike lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Toyota struck the bicyclist, sending him flying. He sustained life- threatening injuries and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he died, the CHP said.
Authorities were working to determine the man’s identity.
