A midday house fire in Sherman Heights displaced a family of five Wednesday and caused an estimated $100,000 worth of property damage, authorities reported.
The blaze in the 2400 block of L Street was reported shortly before 1 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Firefighters had the flames under control in about 15 minutes, SDFRD spokesman Alec Phillipp said. No injuries were reported.
The blaze, which erupted in the attic of the single-story home, caused about $75,000 worth of structural damage and destroyed roughly $25,000 worth of contents, Phillipp said.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced residents — three adults and two children — arrange for interim lodging.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
