Authorities Thursday identified a 48-year-old motorcyclist killed when he crashed into a tree in Spring Valley.

The crash happened around 2:55 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Jamacha Road and Osage Drive, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Juan Antonio Quiroz of National City was riding his motorcycle at a high speed westbound on Jamacha Road when he lost control at a curve in the road, struck a tree and was ejected from the motorcycle, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Quiroz was sent to Scripps Mercy Hospital as paramedics performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:29 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
