A Imperial Beach teenage boy died last Tuesday at Lake Mohave in Nevada from an apparent drowning, according to the Clark County Coroner-Medical Examiner.
Jonathon Gabriel James, 16, while trying to swim to a buoy at Cabinsite Cove, according to rangers at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
James went underwater and was brought to shore by other swimmers in the area, according to the Mojave Desert Daily News.
First responders performed CPR on him and he was transported to a Las Vegas hospital where he died, the paper reported.
The coroner’s office has yet to release the official cause of death.
A GoFundMe has been set up by a family friend to bring his body home to San Diego for burial.
