A man riding a scooter was seriously injured in a collision with a Toyota Prius in the Hillcrest area Monday evening.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Washington Street around 8:30 p.m., said San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims.

The man riding the scooter was crossing in the gore point when a Toyota Prius took the Washington Street off-ramp from the northbound Route 163 and hit the 41-year-old man, Heims said.

The rider was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

The driver of the Prius was not injured and San Diego Police Department Traffic Division detectives are investigating the crash, Heims said.
