A wildfire spread across open back-country terrain near Golden Acorn Casino Monday, threatening a single home for a time but causing no reported structural damage or injuries.
The blaze erupted for unknown reasons off Church Road and Old Highway 80 in Campo shortly before 3 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
Within an hour, the flames had blackened about five acres and prompted one person to evacuate the area as a precaution.
Air and ground crews working to extinguish the blaze, dubbed the Church Fire, reported that its spread was halted by 4:30 p.m.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
