Firefighters were able to quickly contain two small brush fires east of state Route 125 in the Spring Valley area Saturday afternoon.
Both fires were reported after 3 p.m. — one was reported as covering a half-acre in open space near Leigh Avenue, the other covering about four acres in a similar open area near Elkelton Place just a half-mile north, according to San Miguel Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Justin Fuller.
The two fires were contained by 3:45 p.m., Fuller said.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
It wasn’t clear what caused the fires.
