A 13-year-old female was walking home from school in the Otay Mesa West neighborhood when she noticed she was being followed by a black Merz van. The van pulled up next to the victim, opened the passenger door and asked the victim if she wanted a ride home, then grabbed the victim by the wrist and tried to pull her into the van.
The victim was able to pull away and ran home. A motorist drove by and saw the victim talking with the suspect and thought it was odd. The witness made a U-turn and saw the victim running away.
The suspect is described as a white male, 50-60 years old, glasses, full beard and had a raspy voice. He was wearing a gray/green polo shirt and gray pants. The van had a “J” or “K” in the plate. Area detectives were notified and are investigating the incident.
