Metropolitan Transit System police officers and executives met with riders Thursday to give the public a chance to learn about the transportation agency’s new security measures.
CEO Paul Jablonski, Police Chief Manny Guaderrama and security officers were at the Old Town Transit Center and two other stations to discuss the new beat patrol system over coffee and refreshments.
Among the new security measures, MTS will deploy new train teams that patrol three to four stations at a time. All stations now have video surveillance systems and officers will wear body cameras.
The new security measures are intended to triple MTS’ security coverage, officials said.
