A 31-year-old man was arrested in Skyline after police say he threatened a woman sitting in her car, told her to get out and then tried to steal it, only to find the vehicle’s engine wouldn’t start.

The 54-year-old victim was sitting in her 2015 Nissan Altima with her car door open in front of her home at 4:16 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Sunswept Street, said San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims.

The suspect, later identified by police as Jonathan Clark, walked up to the victim with a rock and told her to get out, police said. That’s when Heims says Clark entered the vehicle and found out it wouldn’t start.

Clark fled on foot, but was caught and arrested nearby, Heims said.

Authorities ask that anyone with information on the case call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
