Just after 5:20 a.m., employees at the Walmart on Murphy Canyon Road near Aero Drive confronted a man they spotted attempting to shoplift various items, according to Officer Dino Delimitros of the San Diego Police Department.
The suspect pulled a knife on the employees, then ran out and sped off in his vehicle, Delimitros said. A short time later, a police officer spotted the man’s truck on a nearby freeway and tried to pull him over.
The man refused to yield to the officer, continuing for about 15 minutes until he stopped in Valencia Park, near the corner of Santa Margarita and 54th streets, according to Delimitros.
That corner is south of the 94 Freeway and east of the 805 Freeway.
Police said officers arrested the man and no one was injured.
