An East County man who went missing this week was safely found Saturday, police said.
Eugene Elder, 60, had last been seen near the VA San Diego Healthcare System hospital in La Jolla on Wednesday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department.
On Saturday, someone recognized Elder and contacted police.
Authorities had been concerned that Elder, who has the mental capacity of a young child, was not be able to care for himself.
“The police department thanks the community and specifically this citizen for looking for Mr. Elder,” the SDPD said in a statement.
