A 31-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized after he collided with a car that turned in front of him at a Mira Mesa intersection, police said.
The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when a 26-year-old woman driving a 2010 Subaru Impreza attempted to turn into a driveway off the 7500 block of New Salem Street, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said. The turn took her into the path of the man on his 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle who was approaching from the opposite direction on New Salem Street.
“The motorcycle hit the front end of the Subaru and went down,” Heims said. “The motorcyclist sustained a compound fracture to his left leg and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Officers from the San Diego Police Department’s traffic division were investigating the collision and do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, Heims said.
