Map of earthquakes
U.S. Geological Survey map shows the location of the two earthquakes.

Two small earthquakes struck the Borrego Springs area on Wednesday, a 2.5 magnitude followed by a 3.9 magnitude.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the smaller quake at 3:39 p.m. followed by the larger one at 6:36 p.m.

Both temblors hit northeast of the desert community in east San Diego County along the San Jacinto Fault Zone.

No damage was reported, but the larger quake was felt in many parts of the county, including the city of San Diego.
