A fire of unknown origin damaged a Linda Vista home Thursday, displacing three people and killing three of their six pets.
The blaze in the 6700 block of Goodwin Street erupted about 9 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the kitchen of the single-story house and had the blaze under control within about 15 minutes, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.
Two cats and a dog died inside the smoke-filled residence. The residents’ three other canines survived, Munoz said.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the victims arrange for emergency lodging.
The fire caused an estimated $150,000 to the structure and destroyed about $100,000 worth of contents, Munoz said.
