Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in a Midway District strip mall Sunday.
The fire was reported just before 10 a.m. in the building near the intersection of Sports Arena Boulevard and East Drive, Officer Michael Sweet of the San Diego Police Department said.
The blaze was confined to Polish Pros nail salon, in an area inside the business where a dryer and rags were located, according to Battalion Chief David Gerboth of the City of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
A yogurt shop next door to the salon was not damaged, but smoke forced the eatery’s closure pending an inspection by the health department, Gerboth said.
The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined. No injuries were reported.
The extent of damages to the salon was unavailable.
