A bicyclist in his 50s was struck and killed in Mission Valley Tuesday night, prompting an investigation and a road closure.
The crash was reported shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Friars Road near Rio Bonito Way.
A 51-year-old male driver in a Subaru was headed eastbound on Friars in the number two lane when the bicyclist crossed into traffic and was struck by him, according to San Diego Police Department Sgt. Leonard Flake.
The male bicyclist was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His age and identity were not released.
The driver was not suspected of being under the influence, according to Flake.
The crash prompted a full closure of eastbound Friars Road.
