Hundreds of motorcyclists temporarily shut down a portion of I-8 Sunday in the Mission Valley area to perform tricks on the highway and caused at least one crash, NBC7 reported.

The action happened on the eastbound Interstate 8 near Hotel Circle, according to the station.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the location and found hundreds of motorcyclists illegally stopping traffic on the freeway

Drivers tried to get around the motorcyclists but couldn’t, according to the station. The crash was caused when one of the motorcycles collided with a car, the CHP said.

A short CHP pursuit of at least one biker ensued, but it was called off due to the public danger involved, an NBC7 representative said.
