A man wanted in Mexico for kidnapping was captured by U.S. Border Patrol agents patrolling in backcountry, officials announced Friday.

Agents working in Boulevard near the U.S./Mexico International Border arrested three people Tuesday for illegal entry into the U.S., and a records check on the suspects revealed one of the men had an outstanding warrant in Mexico and was a fugitive wanted for aggravated kidnapping, according to border patrol officials.

U.S. Border Patrol, in coordination with the Mexican Attorney General, San Diego Attaché Office, turned the man over to Mexican authorities.

His name was not released by officials.
