The Border Patrol reported Friday the arrest of two sex offenders, one attempting to enter the United States and the other fleeing a court appearance in Los Angeles County.

The first man was apprehended early Wednesday morning after agents on all-terrain vehicles spotted footprints near Tecate and found a man hidden between two boulders. He was a Nicaraguan national previously convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child and previously deported.

The second man, a Honduran national, turned himself over to agents near Otay Mesa on Wednesday. He was trying to leave the country, but a records check showed he was scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles County on Thursday to face charges of assault with a deadly weapon and sexual battery and was out on bail.
