A two-car crash in Tierrasanta Sunday evening left three people injured, two of them seriously, according to a fire official.

The crash at Shields Street and Santo Road was reported shortly after 6 p.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue battalion chief John Fisher.

The victims — two women and one male, all in their 20s — were transported to Sharp Hospital, Fisher said.

One of the victims had to be extricated from the wreckage, Fisher added.

There was no update on the condition of the victims.

San Diego police were investigating the cause of the crash, and it’s not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Fisher said New Year’s Eve is a dangerous time on roadways, and he encouraged party-going motorists to use alternate forms of transportation.
