A San Diego city employee working on a residential street in the Clairemont area was struck by a vehicle and suffered minor injuries Friday.

The 65-year-old worker was struck around 7:10 a.m. in the 5400 block of Chateau Drive, north of Balboa Avenue and west of Mount Abernathy Avenue, San Diego Police Sgt. Ed Zwibel said. He sustained cuts on his face and was taken to a hospital.

“So far we’re categorizing it as a minor injury crash,” Zwibel said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what type of work the city employee was doing when he was hit, the sergeant said. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash stopped and was cooperative with police.
