A man out on a hike with his dog in the Texas Street Canyon in Mission Valley had to be rescued Monday morning when he slipped on the loose soil and injured his leg, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said.
The incident happened around 9:20 a.m. when the man slipped on freshly rained soil and could not make out of the canyon, SDFRD Capt. Juan Flores said.
“The biggest challenge we had (in getting him out) was the terrain,” he said. “The terrain was uneven, rocky, muddy with the rain that just happened this morning.”
The man was not seriously injured and he was transported to a local hospital. The SDFRD also transported the dog to the hospital to be reunited with the man.
