Authorities asked the public Tuesday for help in identifying a motorist who fled the scene of a weekend traffic accident that seriously injured a disabled pedestrian at an East Village intersection.

The 47-year-old victim was crossing F Street at Park Boulevard in her wheelchair when an SUV struck her shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, according to San Diego police.

The driver of the vehicle stopped momentarily, then drove off, continuing to the west for a block before fleeing to the north on 11th Avenue and to the east on E Street.

Medics took the victim to a trauma center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including fractures to both femurs and her pelvis, Officer Tony Martinez said.

The involved vehicle — images of which were captured by surveillance cameras near the site of the crash — is described only as a newer-model silver SUV with a tinted sunroof and chrome rims.

Anyone who might be able to help identify the wanted driver was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
