
A man driving a speeding Lamborghini died and his female passenger was injured in a fiery crash early Sunday on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego.
San Diego Harbor Police responded at approximately 2 a.m. to the crash at 937 North Harbor Drive and found the driver trapped in the burning vehicle and his passenger lying on the street.
The sports car was traveling over 100 mph, according to officers at the scene. The driver appeared to have lost control and crashed into a palm tree near the intersection with Broadway.
Officers carried the passenger away from the burning vehicle and began life-saving efforts. She was transported to UCSD Medical Center in unknown condition.
The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
Surrounding streets were closed to all traffic for several hours as San Diego Fire-Rescue crews extinguished the fire and harbor police investigated the accident.
