A 27-year-old woman riding a bicycle on a Mira Mesa area sidewalk was seriously injured Friday when she was struck by a tow truck pulling out of a parking lot.

The bicyclist was northbound about 12:40 p.m. on the west sidewalk in the 10800 block of Westview Parkway, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

“A 30-year-old male was driving a flatbed tow truck leaving a parking lot on the west side of Westview Parkway,” Heims said. “The bicyclist crossed in front of the tow truck driver as he accelerated out onto Westview Parkway.”

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life- threatening injuries, Heims said.
