The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District issued a smoke advisory Thursday due to a wildfire in Baja California that has sent an ashy haze into the skies over the U.S.-Mexico border.

Concentrations of airborne contaminants emanating from the large blaze in Rosarito could reach unhealthy levels in some communities in the San Diego area, the agency advised.

District officials advised those in locales where the odor of smoke is detectable to limit their physical activities for the time being and stay indoors as much as possible until conditions improve.
