A man crossing between two intersections in Chula Vista was killed Wednesday after being struck by pickup truck, police said.
Chula Vista Police officers were called at 6:35 a.m. to respond to a collision at Palomar Street near Second Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man, who has not yet been identified and believed to be about 40 years old, dead on the street.
Police believe the man was illegally crossing Palomar Street between two intersections when he was hit by the pickup truck.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene to help police in the ongoing investigation. Police said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
