A woman accused of stabbing a man during a quarrel at a North County transit depot pleaded not guilty Wednesday to attempted murder.

Mary Beth McCollum, 47, was ordered held on $750,000 bail by Vista Superior Court Judge Cynthia Freeland.

Authorities said the 54-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries during the fight on Monday at the Sprinter station in the 700 block of Crouch Street in Oceanside.

McCollum was arrested after she was identified by witnesses, according to police. It was unclear what prompted the violence.

Deputy District Attorney Nicolette Estrada said McCollum, who has a 1990 conviction for robbery, faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted.

The judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 12.
