A fire of unknown origin spread over an open field near Valley View Casino Wednesday, blackening about an acre but posing no structural threats.
The non-injury blaze erupted near the intersection of Sunset and Non roads in Valley Center shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
It took ground crews and personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters about 15 minutes to douse the flames, said Issac Sanchez, a fire captain with the state agency.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation, Sanchez said.
