Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a small brush fire adjacent to Interstate 15 in Escondido Saturday.
The fire was reported just before 1 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, and broke out in a grassy area between the northbound lanes of I-15 and Corral Glen, north of state Route 78, according to Escondido Police Sgt. Chris Leso.
A lack of wind prevented the fire from spreading and allowed Escondido firefighters to put it out in under 30 minutes, Leso said.
The CHP temporarily closed a Route 78 on-ramp to I-15, but all lanes were soon re-opened.
No injuries or damage to structures were reported.
