The California Highway Patrol activated an Amber Alert across Southern California today for a woman who reportedly kidnapped three little boys in Albuquerque this morning — 800 miles away.
Cellphones in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties went off with alarms at about 2:30 p.m. today, some 7 hours
after the mother kidnapped her children in Albuquerque.
That is an 11-1/2 hour car trip non-stop, across half of New Mexico, and all of Arizona and California.
Laria Walker-Anderson, 28 was believed to have taken her sons in a silver 2009 Kia Spectra with New Mexico license plates AAYR80. The car was last seen at about 4 a.m. today headed west on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque.
Police in New Mexico, Arizona and across California were told to look for the car.
Sunday evening it was reported by ABC7 that authorities found Walker-Anderson’s car in the city of La Verne but she and her children were still
missing.
Albuquerque news station KOB-TV reported that Walker-Anderson made threats to the boys’ father that she would kill the boys and herself.
Lloyd Wyatt, 9, Lakai Wyatt, 8 and Lexington Wyatt, 6, all described as young African-American boys, have been missing from their home since early
Sunday morning.
Lloyd was said to be 65 pounds, 3-foot-6 and was last seen wearing ”Despicable Me” pajamas. Lakai is also 65 pounds and 3-foot-6, has short
dreadlocks and was last seen in gray pajamas.
Lexington is 50 pounds, three feet tall and was last seen in yellow and white shorts.
Walker-Anderson, also African-American, is 5-foot-4 and weighs 132 pounds.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said Walker-Anderson had a loaded gun in her possession.
The sheriff’s office said it was unclear where in California they may be headed. KOB-TV reported the boys and their mother have family somewhere in
California.
