A suspect was taken to a hospital Friday following a deputy-involved shooting in El Cajon.
No deputies were injured in the shooting, which occurred about 7 p.m. on state Route 125 near Navajo Road, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies received a call to check the welfare of a person who was possibly threatening suicide, the sheriff’s department told Fox5.
Deputies found the vehicle that the caller described on the shoulder of the northbound lanes. Deputies contacted the man, who was uncooperative and had what appeared to be a firearm, Fox5 reported.
A deputy fired a weapon at the man and deputies rendered first aid at the scene before the man was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, according to broadcast reports. His condition was not immediately available.
The shooting investigation prompted the closure of all northbound lanes of Route 125 in the vicinity of the shooting.
