A 77-year-old woman crashed into a Lemon Grove nail salon Wednesday, injuring herself and a shop employee, according to a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department sergeant.
The woman intended to visit T Nails salon at 7133 Broadway and was in the process of parking her car in front of the shop just after 10 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, she failed to stop and continued driving through the business’s front glass window, according to Sgt. Jorge Dueño.
There were two women working inside the salon at the time — one of them was behind a desk when the vehicle came in and partially pinned her against a wall, the sergeant reported.
The worker complained of pain to her right arm, but refused medical attention.
The driver was treated by Lemon Grove paramedics and transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
There were no customers inside the salon during the crash and the other worker was not injured.
Although the vehicle was about 40 feet inside the salon, a structural engineer deemed the building safe and business operations in neighboring offices continued, Dueño said.
The damaged salon was boarded and closed; repair costs are unknown.
The driver was not cited, but a Department of Motor Vehicles re-examination request of her driving ability was filed by investigators, the sergeant said.
