A small brush fire that erupted in Lakeside late Saturday was determined to have started as a car fire.
A vehicle was reported to be in flames near Wildcat Canyon Road about 6:30 pm. Saturday, before it spread into nearby vegetation, Cal Fire Capt. Jon Heggie said.
The fire burned about a half-acre before it was contained. One water drop was made by a Cal Fire helicopter, and it took about 20 minutes for firefighters to get the blaze under control, Heggie said.
Wildcat Canyon Road was closed in the area for about three hours, according to Heggie.
