Fire crews quickly stopped the spread of a small brush fire in Valley Center on Saturday.

A brush fire was reported at 3:38 p.m. near Woods Valley Court in Valley Center, according to Jon Heggie of Cal Fire San Diego.

Heggie said the fire had burned about a half-acre by 4:15 p.m., and the forward spread of the blaze had been halted.

There were multiple ground fire crews at the scene or en route, and all air crews had already been released, Heggie said.

Firefighters expected to continue mopping up the remnants of the blaze, according to Heggie.
