A chain-reaction pair of car crashes on a South Bay street left a motorist seriously injured Wednesday.
The first crash took place shortly after 5:30 a.m., when an Infiniti G35 traveling west on Main Street in Chula Vista struck a Ford Mustang that had just exited southbound Interstate 805, according to police.
The driver of the latter vehicle got out and was standing alongside it when a westbound Honda CR-V smashed into it, pushing it into him and knocking him down on the roadway.
Medics took the victim, whose name was withheld, to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego for treatment of severe head trauma, Lt. Eric Thunberg said.
No other injuries were reported.
