One person was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving at an overnight checkpoint in Escondido, authorities reported Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted Friday night at Centre City Parkway and Decatur Way, said Escondido Police Lt. Mike Kearny.

Of the 2,333 vehicles that drove through the checkpoint, 729 were screened and 35 of those were sent to a secondary screening area.

In addition to the DUI arrest, authorities issued 13 citations and two vehicles were impounded, Kearney said.
