Cops will be in full force Tuesday night and residents are welcome to join them during “National Night Out,” a community-police awareness-raising event.

The annual nationwide night, also dubbed “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” is held the first Tuesday of August and will be celebrated by the sheriff’s department and police departments across San Diego County.

City Heights, which will host National Night Out at Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park from 4-7:30 p.m., announced that the goal of the family friendly event is to foster “positive partnerships between neighborhood residents and law enforcement agencies.”

For more information on a National Night Out near you, visit the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department website; residents in incorporated areas can also contact their local police departments.
