A 61-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday after he crashed into the back of a car waiting to make a turn in the Nestor neighborhood, police said.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of Coronado Avenue, where a 27-year-old woman in a Mazda sedan was stopped in the center lane, San Diego Police officer Robert Heims said.

The man riding a Harley Davidson was splitting lanes as he approached the Mazda and did not stop, crashing into the back of the sedan, Heims said. The motorcyclist fractured both left leg bones beneath the knee and was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
