A 47-year-old Campo woman was killed when she lost control of her car around a curve and slammed into a tree, authorities said Friday.
The single-vehicle crash involving a 2009 Toyota Yaris was reported about 11:15 p.m. Thursday near Campo Elementary School on Buckman Springs Road just south of Lake Morena Drive, California Highway Patrol Officer Ben Demarest said.
“She was southbound on Buckman Springs Road when she failed to negotiate a curve and left the road onto the dirt shoulder on the right hand side,” Demarest said. “There she collided with a tree causing the fatal injuries.”
The driver was the only occupant of the Yaris.
