A brush fire that broke out Thursday afternoon caused traffic delays on the 15 Freeway in Escondido, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The blaze was reported around 2:30 p.m. off Interstate 15 and Deer Springs Road, according to Cal Fire.

Ground and airborne crews halted the spread of the approximately three-acre fire, and there were no reports of structural damage or injuries.

Champagne Boulevard remained closed throughout the afternoon and evening. The CHP reports the roadway will be reopened shortly after 7 p.m.

According to SigAlert, traffic was very slow on the northbound 15 Freeway from the 52 Freeway up to Deer Springs Road. Southbound freeway traffic remained clear in the area.
