Authorities Monday released the name of a 34-year-old man killed over the weekend in a late-night shooting in Logan Heights.
Jose Lopez of San Diego was walking alongside South 31st Street at 11:55 p.m. Saturday when a car pulled to a stop at the nearby intersection of Martin Avenue and a passenger got out and opened fire on him, according to police.
Lopez collapsed in the roadway, and the assailant got back into the vehicle, described as a dark-colored two-door sedan with tinted windows, and was driven away to the west, Lt. Mike Holden said.
Medics took the victim to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
The motive for the slaying was unknown.
