Three kids playing with fireworks caused a brush fire in Carlsbad Sunday that was put out before damaging any structure, police said.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to the intersection of Colt Place and Gateway Road and had the fire out within 15 minutes, according to Carlsbad Police Lt. Jason Jackowski.

“Three juveniles were contacted and admitted to lighting fireworks in the area which ignited the dry brush,” Jackowski said. “The juveniles were released to their parents.”

No injuries were reported.
