A 63-year-old man robbed a Subway restaurant in East Village and was arrested shortly after, police said.
The robbery was reported at 8:13 p.m. Friday at 1080 Park Blvd., said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims. The suspect walked into the restaurant and demanded money from an employee, Heims said. The man claimed he had a gun but no gun was seen.
The suspect received an unknown amount of cash and fled the store, running southbound on Park Boulevard, Heims said.
A short time later the police detained a man at 1100 Broadway who matched the suspect’s description. The man, identified by police as John Cook, was positively identified as the robber and was arrested, Heims said.
The money was recovered, Heims added.
