A motorist who refused to yield to police Wednesday led officers on a meandering road chase from the South Bay to Ramona before finally pulling over and being arrested.
The pursuit began in National City about 12:45 p.m.
The driver, whose name was not immediately available, fled to the north on Interstate 805, state Route 163 and I-15 before exiting the latter freeway in Scripps Ranch and fleeing to the east on Pomerado Road and Scripps Poway Parkway.
National City police tailed the motorist as he turned onto SR-67 and sped on to the north through eastern Poway. The chase continued past Mount Woodson Country Club, after which the fleeing man slowed and pulled to a stop on the roadside, near Kay Dee Lane.
After hesitating for several minutes as officers surrounded him with guns drawn and a service dog ready to charge, the man exited his silver sedan with his hands up and was taken into custody.
It was not immediately clear why police tried to detain the driver over in the first place.
