A DUI checkpoint in Imperial Beach netted two arrests, authorities said Saturday.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Imperial Beach Substation conducted the checkpoint from 8 p.m. Friday to midnight, according to Sgt. Laura D. Spang.

Of the 1,090 vehicles that were screened, 56 were sent to a secondary screening, Spang said. Two people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, she said.

In addition to the arrests, 16 citations were issued, five drivers were stopped for not having a license, five drivers were unlicensed and four drivers had suspended licenses.
