It may be April Fools’ Day, but the San Diego Police Department wasn’t joking when it announced a DUI checkpoint on Saturday night.

Police will be testing for drunk and drugged driving from 11 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday. The location wasn’t announced, but will be somewhere within the city limits at a location where there have been previous arrests.

Checkpoints are regularly announced because police have found that doing so helps prevent people from drinking and driving.

Police said drivers will be stopped only momentarily, and specially trained officers will be on hand to evaluate drugged driving.

Over the past three years, the San Diego Police have investigated 2,381 DUI collisions which have claimed 19 lives and resulted in 2,257 injuries.
