An Amtrak train struck and killed a woman running toward the tracks near Buccaneer Beach Friday.
Deputies received reports of the rail fatality at Cassidy and South Myers streets in Oceanside shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to deputies.
The train was traveling at about 60 miles per hour when the woman ran in front and collided with the front of the train, according to the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit.
The pedestrian, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene, Lt. Adam Knowland said. Rail delays lasted in the area through late morning, according to North County Transit District officials.
