A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday after an attempted carjacking in University Heights.
The crime was reported at 7:46 p.m. and occurred in front of 4300 Maryland St., said San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims.
A woman was sitting in her car waiting for her fiance to get into the passenger seat of the car when her fiance was approached by a man asking for the time, Heims said.
The suspect then allegedly pulled a silver gun and demanded money and the car from them.
The woman’s fiance was able to get in the car unharmed and the woman drove them away before they called the police.
The suspect was found a couple blocks away and was identified by the victims. Police did not recover a gun.
The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Warsame, was arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking, Heims said.
